What's the difference between Hulled and Unhulled Tahini?
What's the difference between Hulled and Unhulled Tahini?
Hulled Tahini has the outer shell of the sesame seed removed before it is ground, whereas the seed shell is retained for Unhulled Tahini. It is lighter in colour, has a deliciously mellow nutty taste and is creamy in texture.
Unhulled Tahini has the outer seed shell retained providing extra fibre, vitamins and minerals. It has a deliciously strong and earthy nutty taste, is thick in texture and rich in calcium.

Does the Hazelnut, Cashew & Cacao Butter contain sugar?
No! Our Hazelnut, Cashew & Cacao Butter is made with just Roasted Hazelnuts (57%), Roasted Cashews (30%), Date Powder, Cacao Powder (5%) and Sea Salt.
The sweetness comes naturally from date powder.

Is Tahini a good source of Calcium?
Tahini is a great source of plant based calcium, however there is a difference between how much Unhulled and Hulled contain.
Unhulled Tahini has a higher amount of calcium due to the outer shell not being removed from the seed. Keeping the outer shell intact provides extra vitamins, minerals and fibre, including calcium. We have included Calcium in the nutrition information panel, because we have made a call out on the label "rich in calcium" (you can find this in the blurb next to the nutrition information panel) and by law we have to support this claim. Further to this, for a food product to be a high source of calcium, the food product must contain no less than 200mg per serve. Our Unhulled Tahini contains 231mg calcium per serve. Our Hulled Tahini is still a source of calcium, however it contains lower levels and thus cannot have the rich in calcium call out on the label.
If you are after a spread that is rich in calcium, we suggest trying our Unhulled Tahini. It is so versatile and can be used in many different recipes, including sweet treats, salad dressings and soups.
