Does Mayver's use Australian Peanuts?
Does Mayver's use Australian Peanuts?
Yes we do! We have an Australian first sourcing policy here at Mayver's, as we love supporting our local Australian farmers and suppliers.
Our Smooth and Crunchy peanut butter 375g glass jars and our Lovli Spoon No Stir peanut butter 450g glass jars use 100% Australian peanuts. Sourced from sunny Queensland in the Kingaroy region.
Unfortunately we are unable to source enough Australian peanuts to use in all of our peanut butters. As Australia simply doesn't grow enough Australian peanuts to supply us our total volume (we use a significant amount of peanuts each year). We are hopeful this changes in the future and Australia can supply more peanuts for all manufacturers including Mayver's to use.
Does Mayver's test for Aflatoxins?
Does Mayver's test for Aflatoxins?
At Mayver’s we take quality control and technical testing very seriously. In regards to our peanut and other nut sourcing we only partner with tier 1 suppliers and farmers both in Australia and globally in relation to our raw ingredients.
Each supplier in partnering with us must pass strict quality and technical audits and are required to test each batch (consignment) of peanuts and nuts (such as Almonds) they sell to us for Aflatoxin. They are required to send us a test result for each consignment to verify that the nuts we receive are within our quality specifications. This includes testing for Aflatoxin. Therefore each batch of nuts we receive to our production facility here in Melbourne have already been tested prior to receipt into our warehouse.
Due to the large volumes we produce each week, our suppliers and our production site moves through fresh stock very quicky. We also test our products once manufactured.
Why is there oil on top of Mayver's natural peanut butters? Do you add in oil?
Why is there oil on top of Mayver's natural peanut butters? Do you add in oil?
No, we don't add any oil, palm oil or hardened fats to any of natural peanut butters. The oil you see on top of our jars is the natural "good" oils that are expelled from the nut or seed during the crushing process.
The oil separating on the top of natural peanut butter is a sign that our products are 100% natural - being made from just pure wholefood ingredients that have been simply crushed, blended and bottled.

Why doesn’t Mayver's Manuka honey have a best before or expiry date?
Why doesn’t Mayver's Manuka honey have a best before or expiry date?
Pure honey, like our Mayver's 100% Manuka, doesn’t expire when
stored correctly. Thanks to its low moisture content and natural antibacterial properties. Honey is one of the only foods that can last indefinitely without spoiling.
We recommend storing your honey in a cool, dark place with the lid screwed on tight - your pantry is ideal.
Each jar has a batch number printed on it, which lets us trace when it was produced. According to Food Standards Australia, if a product has a shelf life of more than two years, it only needs a lot or batch number for traceability, rather than a best before or expiry date.
