Mayvers Product Recall – A note from Paul

By Mayvers

November 8, 2014

As you may already be aware, several Mayver’s products have recently been recalled from supermarket shelves due to the possibility of our products containing higher than normal traces of declared allergens which includes the potential for tree-nuts to be present in our Peanut Butters and peanuts to be present in our Tree Nut Spreads (eg. Mayver’s Hazelnut & Cacao Spread, Mayver’s Almond Cacao Coconut Spread .

We take your health and wellbeing very seriously which is why we always clearly state our ingredients and allergens on every one of our labels, to help you make a better choice when choosing the right products to enjoy. We advise that if you have any known allergies to the allergens listed on the label (ie. Our pure-state Peanut Butter that “May be present: treenuts, sesame and soy), then it’s best to not eat it, just to be on the safe side.

Whilst Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) do not have specific guidelines around the tolerated levels of allergens, we have decided to take extra precaution by recalling the Mayver’s product’s with a specific used by date listed below. Unless you have an allergy to soy, sesame, peanuts or tree nuts these products are completely safe to eat and enjoy.

As a father of two young children, I personally understand the challenge everyday Australian’s face in making healthy lifestyle choices, which is the very reason I’ve made it my mission to create a range of affordable, pure-state tablespreads made from all natural ingredients.

Today’s supermarkets are overflowing with products that are filled with sugar, hardened fats, chemicals and other hidden “pseudo natural” ingredients which is why it’s devastating to see Mavyer’s products removed because they may contain potential declared allergens.

Up until recently, all Mayver’s Nut Spreads were made using the same processing equipment which were cleaned between Peanut Spreads and Tree Nut spread production. To meet the new lowered tolerance guidelines we have chosen to install dedicated production lines to separate production of our Peanut and Tree Nut products. Even with the segregation of our new production lines, we still advise that should you have known allergies to the allergens listed on our labels.it’s best not to eat our products just to be on the safe side.

This has been a costly and difficult time for all of us at Mayver’s, however as a small family company we believe that the steps we take today will benefit the brand, and the health and well-being of our loyal customers in the long run.

If you have any of the products listed below at home, and don’t suffer from any known allergies to the allergens listed on the label, then you can still continue to enjoy these products.

Thank you for all your encouraging support and messages. We apologise for any inconvenience and hope to have our products back on shelf very soon.

We will keep you informed over the coming weeks and welcome questions here or via email  info@mayvers.com.au

Warmest regards,

Paul Raff
